Role Description This is an on-site, contract Physician Assistant role based in Garden City and Glen Cove, NY. The Physician Assistant will provide direct patient care under the supervision of a dermatologist, including conducting focused histories and physical exams, evaluating skin conditions, and formulating differential diagnoses and treatment plans. Day-to-day responsibilities include performing and assisting with dermatologic procedures (such as biopsies, cryotherapy, and simple cosmetic treatments), prescribing and managing medications, and providing clear patient counseling on diagnosis, treatment options, and preventive skin care. The role involves reviewing test results, documenting encounters in the electronic medical record, coordinating follow-up care, and collaborating with physicians, nurses, and administrative staff to support clinic flow and high-quality care. The Physician Assistant is expected to maintain up-to-date clinical knowledge, follow all regulatory and infection control standards, and participate in practice-wide quality improvement efforts.

Qualifications

• Active Physician Assistant license in the state of New York

• Prior clinical experience in dermatology or a strong interest in dermatology with relevant rotations or training; experience in outpatient specialty care is preferred.

• Demonstrated skills in patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and performance of common office-based procedures within scope of practice.
\n
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to explain complex medical information in clear, accessible language and build rapport with diverse patients.

• Proficiency in documenting clinical encounters using electronic medical records and maintaining accurate, timely, and compliant documentation.
\n
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment, manage a steady patient volume, and collaborate with multidisciplinary team members.
\n
• Commitment to ethical, patient-centered care, adherence to privacy and regulatory standards, and ongoing professional development.
\n
• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program; BLS certification required, with ACLS and additional dermatology certifications considered an asset.
